A Smile
Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at 3:40PM All your marketing strategies need to include a smile or a frown, some tears, some laughter yes indeed an emotional hook. I tell a lot of clients a marketing campaign needs to have the three H's. Something for the Head, the Hands, and the Heart. The head is something to think about, the hands is something they physical have in their hands and the heart is the emotional connection. Numerous studies have shown that the most vivid autobiographical memories tend to be of emotional events, which are likely to be recalled more often and with more clarity and detail than neutral events. So how do you get the emotions going, a good story. Talking about the influence of a mom, dad, grandma or grandpa will touch the majority of your audience. To get some good ideas write down some of the most memorable ads you remember. Make sure it is the first thing that come to mind. Then see if you can find them online and view them again this time looking for the emotional hook. After doing this for at least 7 ads see what they have in common. If you are your own demographic you'll have a good idea what emotional hook you ad needs.
