No Soliciting! No Innovation!
Friday, November 20, 2009 at 4:23PM I know those door to door salesman can be annoying. Everyone has something to sell you that is the best out there. But what would the world be like without this brave salesman. Copy machines in the early days before staples were sold door to door. What would you do without your copy machine? As a matter of fact most office equipment was done this way. A company I worked for was able to cut $30k out of its budget because a salesman poked his head in to tell us about a new innovation the CD-Rom that could deliver the stakes of papers we produced to clients for practically nothing. We saved on ink, paper, shipping, etc... And the biggest problem is the so called gatekeeper. Think about it. Usually a receptions that may not know that much about the business, and yet we depend on them to make the decision as to what innovations we invite into the company. Doesn't that seem a little odd. I know we have the internet and can find what every we need there. So how many of you would have know you needed a computer in the 80's. Now I hear I can't live without it.
Yes when ever I see that little sign "No Soliciting" I think to myself "Now there is a company who may not be around in five years" Don't let your compatators get ahead of you, let that salesman pitch.
