What Would You Do With 1000 Potential Customers At Your Doorstep? The Duh Report Continues

You have heard the old saying, "Location, Location, Location" well it is still true, so why would a shop owner complain when there are thousands of people in front of their store front. I heard this from my Co-Host on WordOnTheTweet last night after we taped. Can you believe it. Its time for another DUH! report.

DUH! Number 1 - These thousand people in front of your business are not just people they are potential CUSTOMERS!

DUH! Number 2 - Immediately after waiting in line they will shop, eat & play in your AREA!

DUH! Number 3 - If they hear you complaining they'll think you are a JERK!

So let's look at what could be done.

1. Meet & Great: What an opportunity to hand out your cards of even better a coupon for your store. Ask the crowd how can you help. I fell in love with a little boutique in Kennebunkport because the shop owner let my family stand on her balcony during Christmas Prelude to get above the crowd.

2. Samples: If you are a food vendor give out a few samples or even some water. I have printed up some water lables and bought a cheap case of water from Sam's club. Many events I go to have a cash bar so I hand out water, branded with Costa Vida, and I become the hero. If you simply can afford either have something cooking who smell makes the crowd hungry for you food.

3. Entertain The Crowd: This doesn't mean you need to do stand up, but why not? Have a clothing store, do a mini fashion show. Hire Phil the Magician or Randy of the Hysterical Society, heck hire me I can balance a surf board on my chin. The point is you have a crowd, draw attention!

We marketers spend a ton of time finding out where you customers are so that we can get out in front of them and invite them to shop at your location. When they are right in front of you its an opportunity to really let your business shine.
